While west allis and the state fair decided to beat people up, the island next to discovery world was PUMPIN in an entirely different way! With laser tag, hula competitions, beer, and a bunch of live artists, the Urban Island Jamboree turned out to be freakin' AWESOME. I painted for about 3-4 hours with a few other people and got to listen to two great live bands. The first was a solo artist who looped recorded verses, guitar riffs, and beat-boxing to create these slowly forming, really detailed funk songs. Yes... apparently it is possible to be your own entire funk factory. The night closed with Fresh Cut Collective who put on a really energetic show, unfortunately ending at 10pm (per the park closing time). Overall it was a lot of fun and great time for painting. I made this piece and will talk a bit more about it later, but I just thought I'd congratulate Art Milwaukee and all the great people that helped make it a badass, butt-kickin' good time.
