Work From The Weekend

Red Sea

These are the two smaller pieces I worked on over the weekend. The first was inspired by a recent story out of China, when people found their river had turned red. Scientists attribute it to flooding and silt, but the spiritual and cultural symbolism is undeniable. I'm not saying that the real world situation is actually created by whatever religious entity you believe in...or that it is a sign of things to come...but there is meaning, there is knowledge, there is influence that you can take from the everyday as long as you pay attention.

A Strange Cloud Rose Above Our Heads
This piece speaks a little more to the negative side of things.  Inspired by images of atomic bomb explosions and the massive column clouds remaining, paired with the disaster of which today marks the anniversary, this "strange cloud" represents change brought on by war, hate...tragedy. Slowly rising...not threatening in itself, but threatening in what it represents...threatening in what it hides.
