Wood Moves to New Heights

The industrial revolution pretty much put the kibosh on big wooden structures. Once steel got introduced, buildings got taller, ships got bigger, steel material became lighter and stronger than using wood, and because of that, anything big began to toss out the timber and reel in steel. Well, new developments in the cross-laminated timber business have them hoping for a bright future for large wood structures, including some of the tallest wood living spaces in the world. And while there are still questions of sustainability, safety and regulation, the proponents see a lot of room for growth in the young venture. take a look.

  1. That's right. Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) is a new and innovative building material that permits fast and efficient construction of single or multi-residential type buildings. It can be constructed fast and dry, and has a positive effect on a person’s feeling of well-being.

  2. Cross Laminated Timber allows wood to be used in never before seen buildings like 30 storey high rises. They creates perfectly uniform strength properties like steel and concrete and creates new possibilities in cantilevers and load bearing. Very interesting.

  3. I like how cross-laminated timber provides an innovative massive building system for single- and multi -family residential buildings, multi-storey residential and commercial buildings, buildings for business and industry, and for special applications in structural timber constructions.
