The What: I Always Dream of Leaving.

This piece is all about reading...or at least that's what inspired it. Not me actually reading...but the pro-reading posters I've seen every so often around the city saying "Reading will take you places", or something along those lines.

I suppose it got me thinking about what that means...it could be talking about the places you'll "visit" through the story...the "experiences" you have through imagination...or it could be understood as "read and you'll go far", promoting learning and the importance of reading in relation to intelligence, ability, and how that will effect your future.

Could it be both?

I Always Dream of Leaving is supposed to open this question to you...revealing both options. On one hand his eyes look skyward, dreaming of sorts of some far off place, some thought unknown to the viewer...then a crown begins to appear...is this the imagination or the realization of one's own possible future...the reality of what's to come when education is treasured and valuable.

Is the image that of a person day-dreaming of greatness, or the image of a person looking forward, inspired by the possibilities they hold in their hands.
