The first ever studio visit in the brand new studio ends with a fantastic sale, as Seven Serpents finds a great home!
The piece has never been shown before and got lost in the fray a bit, with this being done just before the creation of "The Sacred Wilderness" show and series, but I think the piece was pretty influential for how little "praise" and attention it initially got. It was the first piece I remember using this green in a major way, and, I think, going back over the last year, you'll find that green has spread to a large number of works. This was also the first, though very abstract, piece that dealt with animals. Though it didn't pick up for another few months, the animal theme has been a major inspiration and subject for me recently...
It's a great display of pastel...a great bold color...a good mix of abstract and representational...and, ultimately, an important stepping stone in my last year's worth of development. Congrats to the buyers on a great purchase!
