Give Me Your Right Hand. The What.

This piece has a simple but strong message brought to life by a strong but simple image....

Give Me Your Right Hand is a piece that basically speaks to giving up yourself to those around you...doing what is best for everyone, despite how it might affect you...Being selfless in the face of other's needs.

The title is from the perspective of someone needing help...though the message is meant for the person giving (or reserving) their abilities. That's on purpose. As the person who is asking for help, asking for the hand of another, you don't question motive...if you are the one asking for someone's help, you will understand the current plight and know the needs you desire. You don't think if it's convenient for the other person...you don't pause to wonder if it is an annoying request...you feel the need for help and ask for it. However, If you are on the other side, being asked for help, you'll have questions and reservations before you offer your hand....you'll think about what you were already doing...you'll question whether or not your help is really needed, whether or not it will benefit you, whether or not it's worth it.

As a viewer, you are somewhere in between the two perspectives. Are you reading the title as if you are the one asking? Or is the piece demanding this of the viewer...

Are you in need or do you have the power to fulfill someone's need?

Are you sympathetic to the call or do you immediately ask "why should I?"

Will you lend your hand or reserve it for yourself?
