Will Exchanges Do What the ACA Promised?

The exchanges were meant to increase competition between insurers so that they would, in turn, lower prices...but will that happen?

And here's an article saying it's here to stay...for a variety of reasons...

And just a thought...I really don't care what side you're on but I've been hearing a lot of "It's law, deal with it" and I find that a ridiculous argument for any side to make about any law. To make a ridiculous comparison, slavery was legal at one point...jim crow laws were legal at one point...prohibition was law at one point...women and minorities not voting was law at one point...To say "it's law" as a defense to stop opposition really doesn't make any sense to me...and I'm not sure, looking at history, there's any reason to believe that "law" is untouchable.

Just a couple years ago right here in Wisconsin legislation that many did not like was passed into law and a recall was started. Did "it's the law, deal with it" not apply to that situation?

Our entire nation was born out of breaking what was law and creating our own. Don't you think the King was screaming about how pesky the colonies were for breaking their laws by not paying taxes? Don't you think there were a whole bunch of people that were walking around saying "It's the law...we HAVE to pay taxes to Britain. Get over it you traitors!"

I don't mean to make an argument against the ACA, but against the defense most people are using. If your only defense is "it's the law", then I really think you're standing on some shaky ground. Shouldn't you, if supporting the law, argue its benefits, purpose and reasons we need it? Shouldn't a supporter be trying to convince the opposition of its worth? Wouldn't a better argument prove why it's a law we should support instead of simply spouting "GOVERNMENT SAYS SO" ?

I guess I just hope people have more of a reason to support this than "it sounds good and politicians I like say it's ok"...but maybe that's asking too much
