Nice Dream

Started this at the art Jamboree last thursday, worked on it over the weekend, let it dry for about a day, and still have some work left to do. BUT! after all that I like the effect, which was kind of the main point of this piece. All the blue, gray and red was dripped, splattered or poured from cans. The red has a very interesting marbling going on from the paint settling in the pool after being poured onto the paper. The paint was lightly mixed, resulting in a lot of the paint drying separately from the liquid, after it had been absorbed into the paper. The blue, darker at the edges, simply shows the pigment following the contours of the paper much like a river moving through the rocks and sediment. I like the natural flow of everything, but it seems rather "floaty." Its a little too unfocused at the moment, a result most likely from the free-pouring of it's creation, and while it creates some cool effects, some interesting dynamics of shape and color, I don't like how it fades to the edge, and then off into nothingness. I'd like it to be a bit more grounded. I'd like it to have a bit more depth so won't be "tethered" to the surface, but will move through a few dimensions, and have some kind of focal point to emerge from....don't really know if that makes sense but that's where I see this guy going...
