Frankly...I think it could have profound effects...if it's found, somehow, that it wasn't the artist's intent to have the piece cut apart, then all of the "meaning" that has been applied, to a large extent, can't be attributed to Courbet. That said, the piece still has had a profound impact that cannot be denied, no matter the artist's initial intent....
