Who will win this year's Turner Prize...and the more important question, does anyone care?

The article doesn't address the second question but I would be very interested in the discussion. I pay attention to the prize...and usually have some thoughts about the artists...but I rarely ever hear about anything or from anyone, or any art-related organization about the winners or finalists. Does anyone outside the immediately involved care?
Has the Turner Prize become a footnote in contemporary art or is it still the most sought-after prize in the art-world today?
