Ever have a client that starts out asking for "whatever you think is cool. I have no preconceived notions or styles...I just want something awesome." only to get a few steps into the project and realize, well, it's not the case at all? Instead of "whatever you think is cool", they don't want this, that, or that other thing...and definitely not that color or this thing either.
