Usually, inviting international artists to create murals on local-somewhat-rundown buildings would seem to be a bonus for residents...but when those residents are, themselves, artists struggling to make a living, you might face some backlash for not going local. Add in the fact that much of the local resident's murals had previously been removed to make way for the Olympics and that these new murals are part of the "Olympic Legacy" project, you can understand why the local artists are a bit angry. I completely understand the view of the local artists...I guess I just hope they concentrate on being pissed off at the organizers and not the street artists hired. After all, I doubt these local artists would ever turn down a similar project offered to them in someone else's neighborhood...
