I always wondered how artists consider a piece a success if no one other than them can understand it...especially when the statement or concept is the main reason the piece exists or could be considered "good". If your piece "raises issues" but no one but you really knows how or what issues, then does it really do anything? If the concept behind your piece is not conveyed in any way, is the piece conceptual or was it just intended to be conceptual? If you have a point, but no one gets it, you probably did a bad job proving your point.
