Henry Moore v. Francis Bacon.

In a new exhibit in Oxford, Henry Moore and Francis Bacon face off and Jonathan Jones says it's barely a fight at all...

While I do like Bacon more, a few thoughts on the article...

First, I think it's a bit unfair that Moore is indoors when, I believe, his greatest work is large-scale outdoor pieces...Secondly, I don't believe for a second that either artist went to work ever intending to accomplish the same outcome.

Sure they wanted to make great art...but does anyone really believe that Moore wanted his work to have the same effect as Bacon?

Personally I like Bacon more, but I lean toward art that has a bit of anguish and discomfort...I also like Moore, but his work has a completely different effect on the viewer. It's like comparing an classical piano to heavy metal...they just don't compare well as they have very different intentions and purposes...One might be more initially "impactful" but that's very different from being "better".
