Thumbs Overwhelmingly Down For Hirst Retrospective
Excluding the The Daily Telegraph review, not a single art reviewer seems to be impressed by the retrospective of Damien Hirst at the Tate Modern, featuring a number of iconic works from the past few decades...and it's actually worse than that with reviews calling the show "an enormous disappointment" and some now questioning the validity of Hirst and his work, calling to the forefront the timing of the exhibit coinciding with his recent downfall in pricing and increased criticism from critics...
Hirst hit back (in an interview with Telegraph, the only news source that gave the exhibit a favorable review) saying that all art is contemporary and, when made, faced backlash and question. But for someone who's been as famous as Hirst for as long as Hirst, you'd think people would have gotten over it by now if it really was just a case of being "too contemporary."
