Thomas Kinkade Died...
...and its the only time I've ever laughed when hearing someone died...I'm a (slightly) bad person
Thomas Kinkade was found dead in his California home of "natural causes", though the death was totally unexpected and he was only 54. In the past years he's seen some hard times, reportedly abusing alcohol, having run-ins with the law, and facing lawsuits claiming fraud from a number of galleries.
He's known as "the painter of light" (although he only self-claimed this title as JMW Turner is the artist actually dubbed "The Painter of light") and claimed he was the most collected artist ever, having prints in 10 million homes, but he has been largely disregarded by the art society and his work has failed to gain any type of critical support, outside of the Grandma scene.
On top of being largely ignored by the art world, Kinkade has also been criticized for his strange personal behavior; known to heckle other artists and performers, urinating in public spaces, speaking incoherently when drinking, and groping others and himself.
