I was cleaning up a bit and found a big ol' stack of paintings on loose canvas that I totally forgot about; a series of stuff I did when I was doing a lot more drawing, taking a bit of a break from painting, and when I did, painting only things that were actually in front of me and spending the smallest amount of energy "finishing" the pieces...

I think it's very important for every artist to review old work from time to time...it brings into perspective where you are, what you are doing and where you're going and also can give clues to why or how certain things have developed the way they have...
Before I did these pieces, I don't think I had ever thought to work on loose canvas without priming it. I found it helped with the soft quality of these works, and then found that I really liked the aesthetic of the imperfect line, color, and texture. Without this series of simple works on canvas, I may never had made the leap to the natural and raw colors and textures I'm using today...
