Greek Retiree Kills Self In Front of Parliament

A 77 year old Greek retiree put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger in the center of Athens, just in front of the doors of Parliament, clinging to a note. The note read
The government had "annihilated any hope for my survival and I could not get any justice. I cannot find any other form of struggle except a dignified end before I have to start scrounging for food from the trash,"
The suicide garnered an immediate outpouring of sympathy with a shrine popping up in the park near where the event occurred. Suicides have increased 40% over the past two years in the financially depressed country with citizens not expecting a stop to the deaths any time soon...
