Google Glass: Do You Want to See Social Media

I guess attractive people can't make everything look good...

As if we didn't already have enough access to social media, google plans to release a set of glasses which appear to alert you to notifications, messages...you know the rundown. They tell you what's happening with your social media life and allow you to send messages or make changes with your voice...Other than looking stupid, my question to people is WHY!?!? I totally understand why Google is going after this...people will snap them up at least for the initial push of interest. People are crazy about social media...but really people...WHY?

Why do you need to know IMMEDIATELY that you got a notification? Why do you need to be constantly connected to others visually when you just have to reach in your pocket and grab your phone? Why can't we remove ourselves from the internet for more than five seconds?

I realize the irony of complaining about excessive social media usage while writing a blog which I post to around 10-20 times per day, but I promise, I, very easily, don't use the internet at all after work or on weekends. I don't expect others too do that...but I just dread the day when I'm having a conversation with  someone when I notice them scrolling through notifications, checking a text, or sending an email in their glasses...I may be turning into an adult, but we should all take a time-out from social media, at least for a little bit every day.
