Brooklyn-based artist and producer Aesop Rock hasn’t released a full-length EP since 2007’s
None Shall Pass, but he hasn’t been lounging around for the past five years. Known by many as one of underground hip-hop’s best-kept secret weapons, he has been producing music non-stop with rap artists all over the country as well as seemingly-unexpected collaborations with musicians such as Kimya Dawson (from The Moldy Peaches). Aesop has always had a close relationship with Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers Entertainment (Atmosphere, Brother Ali, MF Doom, Eyedea & Abilities, POS) and has finally signed on to join the Rhymesayers ranks with his newest offering
Skelethon, which is set to be released in July. It is also the first album he has recorded, engineered and produced entirely on his own. The first single from his new EP, Zero Dark Thirty is beautifully chaotic, drum-heavy, and features his signature vocal dialect that his fans can’t get enough of.
- Mr. Tyler "not-related-to-Gary" Busey
Check out the single at the link below, and keep an eye out for the album this July.
