Why Don't We Read About Architecture

Interesting article on architecture...very timely too. Last night I ran across my copy of "100 Marvels of the Modern World" all about architectural and engineering marvels across the Earth, and am on an architecture kick.

Even more so than reading about it, why don't we think of it in terms of art? Why isn't architecture, design, and art interconnected positively in our minds?

I think an even better idea than creating a giant monumental sculpture (which is a dream of mine) would be to create such a thing which has a purpose...Functional and sensible art, which I consider some architecture to be, needs to lose the stigma of being simply "design" and furthermore, design needs to lose the negative "anti-art" connotation. Art should be able to have a meaning, and a purpose without losing it's "fine art esteem". Some of my best work is based off of simple design compositions..and if we, artists, started thinking of each in a positive relation to the other instead of the "art > design" mentality of today, I think artists may find ways of connecting better with a larger audience.
