Scientists have long wondered what caused a short and abrupt cold interval about 13K years ago, putting forth ideas like collapsing ice-shelves and changing jet-streams, but a new study supports a study largely ignored by scientists from a number of years ago. They say that a massive rock hit Earth 13,000 years ago, "igniting" North America and killing off many mega-mammals and much of the human population, plunging the world into a new mini-ice-age a few thousand years long.
