...she effectively buys the hospital. Recent reports say that Jay-z and Beyonce paid 1.3 million to a NY hospital in order to rent out a suite and lay some pretty ridiculous ground rules. While most of the rules actually make some sense, like not allowing hospital staff to have phones so that unauthorized pics of the baby or procedure don't get out, others leave me, a. shocked that a hospital would agree to it. and b. pissed at how self-centered and un-thought-out the whole thing was.
One rule they demanded was that the floors security cameras have their lenses blocked with tape...the reason, i assume, is the same reason for the ban on phones. But the problem is that the security cams aren't for paparazzi shots, they are for securing the area...an area where there are many other babies from other parents who probably would like the security. One man was even kept from seeing his newly born twin premies by the famous couple's security guards because they "wanted to use the hallway"...
If you are going to make that much of a deal about having your child I think you should have planned it so that other parents, who have just as much right to the hospital as you, can move easily throughout the place as...you know...births aren't only stressful on the ultra-rich. Furthermore, I'm surprised that the hospital would agree to the security cam thing...they risk the chance of not having video evidence for whatever could have happened, risking other babies and families, simply because Beyonce doesn't want to be on camera...talk about selfish (and greedy/risky on the part of the hospital). Thankfully nothing bad happened, but if I heard security would be shutting down while my kid was in the hospital, I'd ask him to be moved and demand a refund as the hospital did not provide a safe place for the new-born...something I'm sure is being paid for by the parents...
Look, I get the need for privacy, but when your own desire to be private infringes on others rights to carry on normally, especially in this situation, you really need to get over yourself.
